Not long ago, I sat down with Kelly Clinton for an interview.

Admittedly, I am a fan of Kelly’s, not because her husband, Clint Holmes, is a singer I admire, but because an evening with Kelly Clinton on stage is always fun.

She sings, yes, but her on-stage conversation is down-to-earth, funny and yes, sometimes, a bit windy. But she admits she sometimes talks too much and she is also unlike anyone else in town.

I’ve seen many of Kelly’s shows in the last 20 years.

She always looks great, with a figure even a 20-year-old would love, she has a good deal of reddish hair that she can flip more vigorously than a flag in a windstorm.

Kelly is limber and can dance silly or not-so-silly dances when called upon.

Importantly, Kelly is original and funny. She doesn’t mind covering her good looks with costumes and new voices. She has been compared, looks-wise, to Ann Margaret, but she’s all-Kelly, a character her idol Carol Burnett would have loved to know.
