          Biography of Daniel Smith

          Daniel Smith is an Australian conductor who is considered one of the leading young talents in contemporary conducting.

          He was invited to visit Saint Petersburg in October and December 2013 by Maestro Gergiev. Smith has studied under renowned conductors such as Jorma Panula, Neeme Jarvi, Paavo Jarvi, Gianluigi Gelmetti, Robert Spano, Hugh Wolff, and Peter Gulke.

          He received his Master of Music degree from the Sydney Conservatorium and is a fellow of Trinity College in London and the American Academy of Conducting in Aspen.

          Early Success

          In 2011 and 2012, Smith made his debut as a conductor, performing with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and conducting in front of audiences of 2500 people three times.

          He has won numerous awards including the Orchestra's Choice and Orpheus Priz
