Biography of Walter Houser Brattain
Walter Houser Brattain was an American physicist who, along with John Bardeen, discovered the transistor effect in 1948 and created the first transistor.
He was born in Amoy (Xiamen), China, to Ross R. Brattain, a teacher at a private school for Chinese children, and Ottilie (Houser) Brattain.
